As Spiral traditionally does at the beginning of every new year we would like to share with you how much we generated during the last holiday season and where this funds have been allocated. $83,952.00 were generated between the months of October and December, 2010 thanks to those that offered their home to host a Spiral Holiday Bazaar, to those who brought their friends at Spiral Holiday Sales in Pacific Palisades and in Rome and to those that made generous donations to our projects.
Thanks to your generosity we helped fund the following (also, please click here to see attached spread sheet with details):
Nine heart surgeries for poor Vietnamese children born with congenital heart disease.
One year rent of the Spiral Foundation Workshop and Home for 20 disabled artisans in Hue, Vietnam.
One year of meals, insurance and recreational activities for 20 disable artisans of the Spiral Foundation Workshop in Hue.
6 Months rent of Healing the Wounded Heart Shop in Hue. With the goal of helping our project to reach local selfsustainability, in March 2009, thank again to your help, Spiral funded and set up a resale facility called Healing the Wounded Heart Shop. In almost 2 years, with the social proceeds generated by their sales, our disabled artisans where able to help fund fifteen heart surgeries!
Income generation programs in Vietnam and Nepal to support more than one thousand artisans.
Funding of 15 months rent, remodeling, computer and equipments for a resale facility in Nepal. In October 2010, following the success of the Healing the Wounded Heart Shop in Hue, Spiral Foundation set up a similar Recycling for Goodness Shop in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Future project development funds: fourteen years of operation in Vietnam and Nepal, have proven that Spiral's model may be also implemented in other regions of the Global South in order to empower impoverished artisans, return funds to those in even greater need, and help clean the environment.
We will keep you updated on future developments and precise use of these funds.
